New contracts mean thatwireless leased line provider,
Metronet, supplies more than half of the Greater Manchester Councils.

As a result of having secured recent orders from Rochdale MBC and Salford City Council, Metronet has now been chosen as supplier for wireless CCTV communications for 60% of councils in Greater Manchester.
Other satisfied local authority customers include Manchester City Council, Tameside MBC, Trafford MBC and Stockport MBC, where Metronet has established a solid track record in provisioning cost effective alternative communications services to legacy network operators.
Metronet specialises in providing wireless leased line and point-to-point communications circuits as an alternative to fibre-based services for CCTV and mission critical business ICT applications.
Established in 2004, Metronet has built one of the most powerful 21st Century IP networks in the UK, with an infrastructure that is 100% independent of BT or any other incumbent provider.
Building on its success in Manchester, Metronet has extended its network to Birmingham and the West Midlands, Leeds, Liverpool and Dublin. Rapid take up of services in these areas lead the company to predict exponential growth as more organisations seek to reduce costs during the tough economic climate.
Metronet CEO, Elliott Mueller, said, “The giant communications suppliers can no longer dominate and set the agenda in areas where Metronet is operating.
“Metronet’s relationships with the Local Authorities of Greater Manchester demonstrates that it is now setting new standards by providing a communications services and support package that clearly put the rest of the industry to shame.”
Ends.
